Woo-doggies! A mighty fine herd of young wranglers rode into Wonder Junction this morning, ready to hit the dusty trail for day 2 of Vacation Bible School!
During today’s High Point Bible Time, the children learned about the Wonder of His Childhood. We talked about how wonderful it is that Jesus was a kid, just like them, and that means he understands them! Later, those lessons were reinforced during recreation, science and crafts, and even during snack time!
They met our animal pal for today – Junior, the wolf pup, who is learning from his dad as he grows … just like Jesus also grew and learned as He went through childhood. But Jesus was also able to teach His teachers because He knew things they didn’t. What a wonder to think that Jesus is fully human and fully God at the same time!
In Missions, they met Jasper from Zambia. Jasper and his family fled the violence in their home country for safety in a new land far from everything they knew! As refugees, Jasper and his family don’t receive a lot of the same services as those born in Zambia. The children are encouraged to pay for refugees around the world who must figure out how to start over in a new land and for the churches serving those refugee families and working to find them opportunities for employment.
The offering that is taken up this week at VBS will benefit the Children’s Hunger Fund and help to feed and deliver the Gospel to children like Jasper. Every quarter provides one meal for a child in need. Today, the boys contributed $14.25 and the girls contributed $5, bringing us to a total of $84.25 for the week! That is 337 meals for hungry children!
Today’s memory verse was: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:52
Today was Spirit of the West Day and our classes had cheers and chants to show off their VBS class spirit! Congratulations to the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders who will get a special prize tomorrow for winning this cool contest!
We can’t wait for everyone to come back tomorrow in their Old West best to learn about the wonder of His ministry years!
Reminders:
🌵 Everyone received a packet of bible verses. The child in each class who says the most verses will get the chance to pie the VBS volunteer of their choice at the end of the week! This is great incentive to hide God’s word within our hearts and have fun doing it!
🌵 TOMORROW will be Old West Dress Up Day! Your children are encouraged to wear Old West attire like cowboy hats, bandanas, plaid shirts, pioneer dresses and bonnets, etc.
