Hold on to your hats, y’all! A whole load of cowpokes and buckaroos came chugging into Wonder Junction this morning to kick off our first day of Vacation Bible School!
They met our animal pal for today, Tiny the cougar kitten, whose name reminds us that Jesus came to earth as a tiny baby. The children were reminded that because He came, children of God are never alone – Jesus is with us always!
In Missions, they met Aye Ko from Myanmar who suffers from extreme hunger. Aye Ko’s father works hard to provide food for his children, but it often isn’t enough so Aye Ko and his brothers often go to bed hungry. The children were reminded to pray for children like Aye Ko who wonder each day if they will have enough food, and also for churches who are serving families like Aye Ko’s by delivering food and the hope of the Gospel. The offering that is taken up this week at VBS will benefit the Children’s Hunger Fund and help to feed and deliver the Gospel to children like Aye Ko. Every quarter provides one meal for a child in need. Today, the boys contributed $39 and the girls contributed $27! That is 264 meals for hungry children!
We can’t wait for everyone to come back tomorrow to learn about the wonder of His childhood! If you missed today, it’s not too late to saddle up and join us tomorrow.
Reminders:
Everyone received a packet of bible verses. The child in each class who says the most verses will get the chance to pie the VBS volunteer of their choice at the end of the week! This is great incentive to hide God’s word within our hearts and have fun doing it!
Wednesday, June 11, will be Old West Dress Up Day! Your children are encouraged to wear Old West attire like cowboy hats, bandanas, plaid shirts, prairie dresses and bonnets, etc.
