Day 3 of The Great Jungle Journey was WILD! If you couldn’t make it today, we still have TWO more days of adventure planned.
Today, we stopped at our third port of call – Confusion! We learned about the Tower of Babel and how man’s disobedience caused God to confuse the languages. The kids met our animal pal for the day, Scatter the silverback gorilla, who reminds us of how God scattered the people at Babel. Today’s verse was Genesis 11:9 – “Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth. And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.” There is lots of great information at https://https://answersvbs.com/junglekids if you’d like to continue this discussion with your kids at home.
In Missions, the children learned about Daniel who moved from Haiti to Mexico with his mother to escape a dangerous situation, but once there, his mother lacked skills to find a job to support them. We urge the children to pray for families like Daniel’s who are struggling to break out of the cycle of poverty they were born into. Throughout this week, we are taking up an offering to benefit the Children’s Hunger Fund which provides meals to families like Daniel’s. Just one quarter provides one meal! Today, the boys raised $28.51 and the girls raised $14.55!
Reminders to parents: FRIDAY will be Jungle Journey day! Come dressed for a jungle cruise!
Memory Verses! Each child received a packet of verses because during VBS week, the children are encouraged to hide God’s Word in their hearts by memorizing any verse of the Bible (not just the ones we sent home – ANY). They’ll be rewarded with a treat at the end of the week if they say any verse to the ladies at the Verse Table. The student in each class that says the most verses will get to “pie” the VBS worker of their choice on Friday.
VBS Family Night is FRIDAY at 6:00 PM and we hope everyone will come out to see what these children have been learning and working on this week!
