Day 2 of The Great Jungle Journey was EPIC! If you couldn’t make it today, we still have THREE more days of adventure planned.
Today, we stopped at TWO ports of call – Corruption and Catastrophe! We learned how Eve was tricked by the serpent and sin entered the world, corrupting it. We also learned about how God sent a global flood as judgment on the whole world. The kids met our animal pal for the day, Tox the poison dart frog, whose black and blue colors remind us of the sin that corrupted the world and the flood that God sent. Today’s verse was Psalm 14:3 – “They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.” There is lots of great information at https://answersvbs.com/junglekids if you’d like to continue this discussion with your kids at home.
In Missions, the children learned about Panit from Thailand whose family was impacted by the pandemic when people would no longer pay his grandmother to wash their clothes and she could not afford food for them to eat. We urge the children to pray for families like Panit’s who are struggling to provide food because of situations they cannot control as well as that local churches would be able to help more families in need and share the hope of the gospel to more people in their communities. Throughout this week, we will take up an offering to benefit the Children’s Hunger Fund that provides meals to families like Panit’s. Just one quarter provides one meal! Today, the boys raised $75.06 and the girls raised $30.85!
Today’s cool contest was Team Spirit day! Each class came up with a fantastic cheer which they performed during our closing today and you can hear them all at the end of our daily wrap-up video. Congratulations to the 4th-6th grade class for winning!
Reminders to parents: Tomorrow is Backwards Day! Everyone should come dressed in backwards, upside down, or confusing attire to represent the confusion that occurred at the Tower of Babel! Get creative!
Memory Verses! Each child received a packet of verses because during VBS week, the children are encouraged to hide God’s Word in their hearts by memorizing any verse of the Bible (not just the ones we sent home – ANY). They’ll be rewarded with a treat at the end of the week if they say any verse to the ladies at the Verse Table. The student in each class that says the most verses will get to “pie” the VBS worker of their choice on Friday.
VBS Family Night is FRIDAY at 6:00 PM and we hope everyone will come out to see what these children have been learning and working on this week! If your children want to practice the motions for the songs they are learning at home, today’s song was “No One Does Good” and there is a playlist on the AnswersVBS YouTube channel with all of the songs and hand motions: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoUPcl51kZGHCaUxE0ntNYK8DHnjlNnqs
Again, we want to thank everyone who donated items that we needed, as well as their time and effort to make this VBS a truly GREAT Jungle Journey and share God’s Word with this wonderful group of kids. We also want to thank all the parents who trusted us with their sweet children this week!
See you tomorrow for Day 3 when we will stop at our fourth port of call … Confusion!
