Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest anyone spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ.”
Let us beware of philosophies, vanities, and traditions of this world. Beware their voices, they are all around us. Beware your own voice, for what proceeds from the mouth comes from the heart and our hearts are desperately wicked. It is a long grueling process to let the Spirit of God sort out the rudiments of the world from the truth of Christ. It is not comfortable, easy, or flattering to our egos. Nevertheless, it is a crucial part of the Christian walk. A revived sense of urgency in the love of Christ, leads to self-reflection, which leads to repentance, which leads to gratitude which starts us back at a revived sense of urgency in the love of Christ. Remember that God’s truth is secure by the power of His might. Let us put in the study, work, and prayer necessary to tell the difference between the rudiments of the world and the things of Christ. Let us be sure we are standing on those things that are secured by the power of God. Only then can we be truly confident in our footing.
